If there is one thing about being sick, or being in pain, it is always doubt. Is this really as bad as it seems? Is it all in my head? Am I making it worse than it needs to be? Am I so afraid of what could be happening that I’m not really seeing what is happening?

Doubt is there, it exists, but it is not fair to myself to give into that doubt, to deny that there is something wrong, that I am hurting, simply because I happen to think that perhaps I’m exaggerating. Looking sick and feeling sick are two different things, and just because one does not accompany the other does not mean it is any less valid.

If I hurt, if I am feeling ill, I should not, I WILL NOT, tell myself it’s all in my head to spare the ones around me the drama or the pain that comes in the wake of ordeals such as this. It is my right to myself as a person to make sure that all is well with myself. And I must remember that sometimes, I need to come before others.
